Cohen, Sir Robert Waley
(1877–1952)
   British industrialist. Cohen joined the Shell Oil Company in 1901 and during World War I was petroleum adviser to the army council. He was knighted in 1920. He was president of the United Synagogue, and one of the founders of the Council for Christians and Jews. Though not a Zionist, he was on the Economic Board for Palestine and the Palestine Corporation. He selected the site for the Oil Refineries in Haifa. His son Bernard (b. 1914) was lord mayor of London (1960–1).
