Feinstein, Elaine
(b. 1930)
   British writer. Feinstein was born on Merseyside and was educated at Cambridge University. She is the author of eleven novels including The Survivors (1982) and Loving Brecht (1992). Her collections of poems include In a Green Eye (1966), The Magic Apple Tree (1971), At the Edge (1972), The Celebrants (1973), Some Unease and Angels (1977), The feast of Euridice (1980), Badlands (1987) and City Music (1990). In addition she has produced two volumes of short stories, plays for radio and television and works of translation. Her writing draws on the common European Jewish experience as well as her own personal concerns as a wife and mother. In 1990 she won the Cholmondeley Award for Poetry.
