Goldberg, Rube (Reuben Lucius)
(1883–1970)
   US cartoonist. The Reuben is the annual award of the American National Cartoonists Society, so named in honour of the outstanding cartoonist Rube Goldberg. A versatile and widely syndicated artist, his interests ranged from political cartoons to sports cartoons and comic strips. He is best remembered for the crazy fantasias of engineering of Professor Lucifer Gorgonzola Butts. One of his pungent political cartoons in the New York Sun, his Peace Today cartoon, won a Pulitzer Prize in 1947.
