Harkavy, Albert (Abraham Elijah)
(1835–1919)
   Russian orientalist. Harkavy was keeper of the Department of Jewish and Oriental manuscripts in the Imperial Library in St Petersburg. He published valuable research papers on Jewish historical subjects, including the early medieval Slavic-speaking Jews of southern Russia, manuscripts of the gaonate and Spanish periods, and the Karaite movement.
