Zionism
   The age-old yearning of the dispersed Jewish people for its homeland, symbolized by Mount Zion in Jerusalem. The organized modern Zionist Movement was launched by Herzl in 1897 with the object of ‘securing for the Jewish people a home in Palestine guaranteed by law’.
