Marx Brothers

Marx Brothers
(20th century)
US stage and film comedians. There were originally five Marx brothers who began their career in entertainment as a vaudeville act together with their mother, Minnie. Two brothers dropped out and became theatrical agents. The remaining three, whose zany and mocking style of farce made them famous, were Chico (Leonard, 1891–1961), Harpo (Adolph, later Arthur, 1893–1964) and Groucho (Julius, 1895–1977). The films they made between 1929 and 1946, such as Animal Crackers (1930), Duck Soup (1933), A Night in Casablanca (1946) and many others have become classics in the history of the cinema.
