Robinson, Edward G. (Emanuel Goldenberg)

Robinson, Edward G. (Emanuel Goldenberg)
(1893–1973)
US film actor. Short and thickset, Romanian-born Robinson seemed typecast as a gangster. Little Caesar (1931) was the first of a long series of such parts, but he was successful later in other roles such as the investigator in Double Indemnity (1944) and the gambler in Cincinnati Kid (1965). Two weeks before he died of cancer he received his first Oscar at a ceremony at his bedside.
