- Shopman (Schoffmann), Gershon
- (b. 1880)Hebrew writer. Shofman left his native Russia in 1904 and emigrated to Palestine when he was nearly sixty, having spent the intervening years in Galicia and Austria. Most of his writing was, therefore, done outside Palestine. He is known best for short stories, sketches, and essays written in a precise and unadorned Hebrew style. Shofman received the Israel Prize for literature in I957.
