Bloch, Konrad
(b. 1912)
   US biochemist and Nobel laureate, 1964. Bloch emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1936 and taught at Columbia and Harvard Universities. In 1964 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for the discovery of the mechanism of cholesterol and fatty acid metabolism.
