- (1870–1939)US Hebrew scholar. Davidson emigrated from Lithuania to the United States at the age of eighteen. His most important contribution to scholarship was a gigantic thesaurus of post-biblical Hebrew poetry up to the Haskalah period. He was awarded the first Bialik Prize in 1936. After his death, his library of Judaica was presented to City College of New York by his widow.
