Horovitz, Joseph
(b. 1926)
   British composer. Horovitz was born in Vienna and settled in England in 1938. He was educated at Oxford University, the Royal College of Music and in Paris. Since then he has taught composition at the Royal College and is himself a prolific composer. Among his many prizes are the Commonwealth Medal (1959) and the Ivor Novello Award (1976). Perhaps his best-known work is Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo (1975) written for children in collaboration with Michael Flanders.
