Jessel, Sir George

Jessel, Sir George
(1824–83)
   English judge. A brilliant barrister, Jessel was elected to Parliament in 1868 and became solicitor-general three years later. In 1873 he was appointed master of the rolls. During the next decade his learned and lucid judgments made an important contribution to English equity law.
