(1888–1982)
British ballet teacher. Starting her career as eurythmics teacher for Serge Diaghilev’s ballet company in Paris (which included Nijinsky), she set up her own ballet school in London in 1920. This became the Ballet Rambert, which played an important part in developing young British dancers and choreographers. In 1962 she was made a Dame of the British Empire.
