Seligsberg, Alice Lillie
(1873–1940)
   US social worker. An active social worker and a friend of Henrietta SZOLD, New York-born Alice Seligsberg was in charge of the American Zionist unit that went to Palestine in 1918, with a staff of forty-four. From this nucleus, she helped to develop Hadassah’s medical programme, and was national president of Hadassah 1920–1. The vocational school for girls in Jerusalem opened by Hadassah in 1942 bears her name.
