Lubetkin, Zivia
(b. 1914)
   Warsaw ghetto fighter. A member of the Zionist socialist movement in Poland, Zivia Lubetkin fought in the Warsaw ghetto until it was destroyed (1943), escaped with a group of survivors through the sewer system, and operated with the Polish underground until the liberation. She and her husband settled in Palestine in 1944 and helped found Kibbutz Lochamei ha- Gettaot (‘ghetto fighters’). She was a member of the Jewish Agency Executive (1966–8).
