Rubinstein, Artur
(1886–1982)
   Pianist. Born in Poland, Rubinstein started to play the piano at the age of three and gave his first solo performance in Berlin when he was eleven. He moved to the United States in 1937. Rubinstein was regarded as one of the world’s greatest virtuosos, and also composed works for the piano and chamber music. He donated the proceeds of his Israel concerts to the Artur Rubinstein Chair of Musicology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
